Seattle has several marinas that allow liveaboards, but there are generally waiting lists.
Today, we visited Shilshole marina.
We like its location and facilities. It has direct water access to the Sound and land access to bike trails, a large park, restaurants and the Ballard and Fremont districts. It also has the requisite facilities: a store, fuel dock and plenty of parking.
This 2-minute promotional video, produced by the Port of Seattle, gives a good overview:
The estimated wait list for the size slip we’ll need (40′-50′) will be 6 months – 1 year. So, since it looks like it will take longer to get at slip than it will to sell our house and buy a boat: we’re going to submit our application for a slip very soon!
